No Land is a documentary about an old man in a deserted mountain village, digging a grave for himself. He is the filmmaker Zhang Ping's father, an anti- socialist opposing the Communist Party. He had a promising job in the city but was sent to the rural area for eighteen years and then retired as a laborer. When he was 70, the privatization of factories made him return to the countryside again. Now in his 80s, he is preparing for his own demise.
